Greece’s Deputy Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace has completed a multi-day business mission that ended in Podgorica and included Sofia, Belgrade, Bucharest and Tirana. Between 80 and 120 participants took part at each destination.
The delegation brought together the Greek Exporters Association (SEVE), the Federation of Industries of Greece (SVE), chambers of commerce, Enterprise Greece, five universities from Macedonia and Thrace, and the three regional administrations. The ports of Thessaloniki, Kavala and Alexandroupolis also joined, each competing to serve as a maritime gateway to the Balkan hinterland.
Greek exports to Bulgaria reached €3.15 billion in 2025, an increase of 11.4%. Exports to Romania rose 20.6% in the first half of the year to €1.19 billion, even as the Romanian economy slowed. More than 370 Greek and foreign businesses took part in meetings during the first three missions, producing memoranda of understanding and the first business partnerships. Business-to-business meetings in Tirana and Podgorica were held separately.
